Agriculture, livestock and aquaculture

  • Agriculture: accounts for 40% of the national coconut production. 4,000 hectares have been converted to organic vegetables. Plant a lot of rambutan.
  • Livestock: Raising pigs is quite popular. Cow farming is developing.
  • Seafood: both fishing and farming tend to develop. Mainly raising basa fish.

Consumption and Market

  • Produce sold to other provinces: coconuts, oranges, grapefruits, tropical fruits of all kinds.
  • Export: 49% exported to China. Mainly seafood, grapefruit, coconut. Export ports and airports are mainly located in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.

Infrastructure

  • Climate change response: The project to combat saline intrusion, stabilize agricultural production through "Ben Tre Province Water Management Project" is using loan in Yen currency.
  • Industrial zone: Concentrate many fruit, coconut and seafood processing enterprises.
  • There is a plan to build a road connecting the eastern part of the Mekong Delta (Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang)
