Pomelo variety named Quang Tien of Thai Hoa commune, Nghe An province, is only grown in Nghe An. This type of pomelo has a higher sweetness than many other pomelos, but the fruit shape here is irregular and the outer skin is difficult to peel. Realizing that the cause was unstandardized planting by farmers, Thai Hoa commune authorities facilitated the establishment of pomelo cooperatives, supported registration for safety certification, and helped with the cost of installing drip irrigation systems for farmers. These cooperatives grow pomelos on the basis of surveying market demand (weight, appearance, sweetness), applying technology to optimize the management of planting, fertilizing, pruning, and wrapping the fruit. They wrapped each fruit with a bag and also designed the product logo for marketing. As a result, the price of pomelos sold at the garden has increased by 67%.
