Mission, Vision and Value for ABJD

ABJD was established to promote business opportunity relating to agriculture between Vietnam and Japan. 

Potential of agriculture in Vietnam is high. Agriculture in Vietnam has been growing significantly past decades. 

Agricultural development in Vietnam started in 1986 under Doi Moi policy. It was started to attain self-sustainability to meet domestic demand of food. The self-sustainability was attained in 1090th, and now Vietnam is one of the major exporting countries of agricultural commodities. Vietnam is always ranked top 3 exporter of the world for many commodities such as rice, coffee, cashew, black pepper rubber and so on. 

Agricultural production has been increasing significantly for past decades. And the growth is continuing. Major portion of this growth is accomplished from introduction of large-scale agriculture operated by large corporations. However, workforce nearly 18 million farmers, about 33% of total working population, are not efficiently involved in this development. Land and labor are major resources for agricultural production. Agricultural development in Vietnam for past decades was accomplished by improved intensity of land use by large corporations. Although there are still lot more leeway for intensive land use in Vietnam, utilization of immobilized farmer population is an important issue for next stage of Vietnamese agricultural development. Capacity building of small-scale farmers is the important target issue for the government. In order Vietnamese government to attain the objective of capacity building for rural farm population, learning from Japanese experience can be an effective tool. Agriculture in Japan is relatively small in scale like Vietnam. Moreover, there are no such large-scale farming system like coffee plantation in Vietnam. Basic system of agriculture in Japan is cooperative of small-scale farmers. There are established know how to maintain the competitiveness in agriculture for the small-scale farmers in Japan. ABJD is not only connect the agricultural business between Vietnam and Japan, but ABJD would like to contribute to assist the next stage development of Vietnamese agriculture by mobilizing the small-scale farmers, which is really big and important resource for Vietnamese agriculture and rural development.

Vision

Vietnamese agriculture and rural life of farmer population will be improved through introduction of better agricultural practice.

Value

No farmers should be left behind from benefit of agricultural development in Vietnam. And all farmers aware to practice good agriculture, so the natural environment is conserved properly.
