On May 7th, in Vinh city, the Agriculture Science Institute of North Center Vietnam (ASINCV) hosted a meeting with the Japnese company Green carbon, which had been their partner on a pilot AWD project for carbon credit since the Winter – Spring crop 2023/24.
Through this meeting, Green carbon Co. and ASINCV has reviewed the result of the AWD project from last rice crop, discussed the shortcomings and suitable adjustments for future implementation and signed an Memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the agreed future partnerships.
In the Winter – Spring crop 23/24, Green carbon has hosted 6 workshops at district level, 8 workshops at commune level and 31 trainings for farmers in the AWD project area, which covered 5230ha in 5 districts of Nghe An (Dien Chau, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen, Do Luong and Nghi Loc). In the next crop Summer – Autumn 24, Green carbon expected to expand the project area to 4 other districts in Nghe An (Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh, Thanh Chuong and Tan Ky), thus raising the total project area to 9000ha. In addition to the technical work with ASINCV, Green carbon is also promoting the cooperation with Nghe An DARD and local authorities to transfer knowledge and assuring legal base of the AWD project.
JICA Advisors at MARD - Mr. Morita joined the discussion to understand the current state of partnership between the two parties and give advice on future cooperation.
